Burnie Friendship Day and a first!

The Burnie Piecemakers and Material Girls held a fabulous Friendship Day yesterday, attended by 90+ ladies with their embroidery, stitching, knitting and crocheting projects. Sarah and her mum, Gail, brought Patchworks Plus to Burnie and we also had Mandy from the Fabric Cupboard in Wynyard and Julie and Michelle from Wells in Latrobe.

The lovely Leanne and Cathy came up for the day, so there was quite a FIS gathering there as well ;)

Proceeds from the Friendship Day - in excess of $1000 -  including a raffle for a gorgeous cot quilt made and donated by Bev, and Dutch Auctions [vixed up of course!], were donated to Burnie Heart Kids. I was so excited to see that Kristy won the quilt as she and her mum had made and donated the first quilt for Heart Kids 2 years ago in memory of the gorgeous Ella. It's only a couple of weeks till Kristy and her family welcome their new baby, so how fitting this was.

These days are always wonderful opportunities to catch up with friends from other areas, showcase some of the gorgeous work they have done and add a little - or a lot - to your own stash. Our theme was Christmas in July - here are some photos of the set up on Friday night - was too busy yesterday to take any more except for some showcase quilts.

And my first??? A pair of socks for one of my little girls :)
